Under 14s Reports
Rusthall Under 14s
The newly formed under 14A team have made a solid start to the season pictured below is our Captain & top scorer Dave ‘Pacey Pearce’ lining up another power driver. Dave leads by example and lets his feet do the talking on the pitch.

We are awaiting a decision on 3 points from a cancelled game if these are granted we will be top the league .In 12 matches the team has bagged 42 goals so far this season and have progressed to the semi final of the CDJFL Cup ‘come on the Rustics’. A date for this match has no been fixed but we think that it might be at Jockey Farm early in the New Year, it would be great for the team if as many people can turn up to support them as possible.
Pictured below are Ed Clark, Henry Stone and Jack Norton preparing to attack a corner, in this game against Ashurst Wood they went 3 v 0 down and came back to win 4 v 3 by the look of concentration on their faces the half time team talk has certainly got them focused. Thanks to Melisa for the great pictures.

We have two players who have been selected for the Inter League team Dave Pearce & Henry Stone congratulations to both of you.
A big thank you from the team to Mick Baker and Richard Strickland who have organized some great training sessions this season including inviting some guest coaches which have really stretched the lads.
We would like to wish everyone associated with the Club a Happy Christmas and a ‘goal-den’ New Year.

Uckfield Grasshoppers JFC 2 - Rusthall FC U14
A's 4
On a bright
sunny morning on Sunday 21st October we witnessed a keenly contested match
between Uckfield Grasshoppers JFC and Rusthall FC U14 A's. The first half saw
both teams playing some open attacking football, which finally paid dividens for
the 'Rustics' who opened the scoring with a pin point shot from the edge of the
box by Dave Pearce, leaving the Uckfield keeper no chance. This, however,
prompted an increase in pressure from the home team who equalise after a
scramble and a deflected shot from inside the box after the Rusthall keeper,
Mike Dirimilis, had made a great initial save. The rest of the first half saw
Uckfield continue to pile on the pressure and probably should have been in
front by the half time whistle, but for some desperate defending
particularly from Chris Baker and Jack Copper in the Rustic's
defence.
The second half finally saw Rusthall start to apply some of
their own pressure and this was soon rewarded with a fine goal from a twisting
high shot from outside the Uckfield area by midfield man Edd Clark. This was the
real turning point of the match and not long after Dave Pearce hit his second
after a defence splitting pass by striker Ollie Strickland making it 3-1.
However, Uckfield refused to lie down and showed some
real determination particularly by the Uckfield number 14 playing down the right
wing. Their second goal came after some excellant skill by the number 14 who
crossed from the right and the ball was drilled in over the Rusthall keeper
making the score 2-3
With the game now back in the balance the next
goal would prove vital. Fortunately it was Rusthall who took their chance. Once
again the ball fell to Pearce on the right and after some determined runnning
his fierce right foot shot beat the keeper inside the near post.
This
4th goal and Pearce's hatrick proved decisive. Uckfield continued to press right
to the end but to no avail, leaving the 'Rustics' as eventual winners
4-2.
Man of the Match: Hatrick Hero Pearce.

‘THE COME BACK KIDS’
Rusthall v Ashurst Wood Under 14 Crowborough A League
Rusthall under 14s A were looking to maintain their 100% home record at Jockey farm, against Ashurst Wood on Sunday, however after 15 minutes the home side were 0 v 3 down. Ashurst flew out of the blocks with a sensational strike form Andriani who chipped the keeper from 20 yards. Rusthall were rattled and made numerous mistakes which Ashurst capitalized on with two more well worked goals from Morgan-Rowe and McParland.
The Rustics re grouped and started to string some passes together. Fordman was causing problems with his trickery down the right hand side. With an amazing flick he left his marker stranded and delivered a superb cross which Man of The Match O’Reilly buried in the left hand corner. This galvenised Rusthall who pushed forward imposing themselves on the game. Some silky moves from Strikland took him past two players and hit a looping shot that left the keeper stranded with the ball dropping into the vacant net.
By half time the expectant crowd had already seen 5 goals. Rusthall were now attacking the farm end and their midfield started to dominate with great work form Clark and Stone who one a free kick. Gallie majestically floated the free kick into the path of Green who, with the deftest of touches half volleyed the ball up and over the keeper. By now the pressure on the Ashurst goal was relentless. Power the Ashurst keeper pulled off some superb saves stemming the Rusthall onslaught until Pearce hit top gear with his tantilising runs down the right, collecting a brace with two power drivers.
After a nervy start the Rustics won through comfortable winners and ‘the come back kids got out of jail’
A
big thank you to VISTORM our team and club sponsors this
year

A big thank you to Graham for writing a great match report this week, which has been forwarded onto the Courier.
The under 14s have their own page on the Rusthall web site where match reports etc are posted. We will also put on it a team photo (when I remember my camera). It would also be nice to highlight our players sporting achievements outside of the club e.g. if they are selected to play for the inter league or county football teams or achievements in any other sport.
Regards Steve
Rusthall Under 14's 3 v Roselands Under 14's 2
At the weekend Rusthall Under 14's entertained Roselands for their third league game of the season in the Crowborough and District Junior Football League, with Rusthall looking to protect their 100% record so far this season. The game was played at Jockey Farm Rusthall, the pitch was in excellent condition and it encouraged both sides to play passing football.
Rusthall started the game slightly better than Roselands and dominated the first 20 minutes. Roselands packed their defence and midfield and held on well until the Rusthall captain, Dave Pearce, was put through one on one with the keeper and was brought down for a penalty that he confidently put away himself. For the rest of the half it was the Rustics that dominated and they carved out several good chances to increase the lead but failed to convert the pressure into goals and went into half time with the score at 0-1. Roselands had broken away several times in the first half signally their ability to bite back and that Rusthall would need to play well in the second half to remain on top.
The second half started fairly evenly with both sides creating chances although it was Rusthall who scored first via Connor O'Reilly to make it 2 - 0. Roselands, however, refused to lie down and started throwing more players forward to get back in the game and were rewarded with a goal. The whole Rusthall team reacted well to this setback and immediately restored their lead via a superbly taken goal from Billy Fordham to make it 3-1.
Roselands stuck to the task and battled all over the pitch and deserved to score again and make it 3-2 with only a few minutes to go. There then followed a major onslaught from Roselands with Rusthall having to dig in and defend hard to keep them out but keep them out they did and on balance deserved the 3-2 win in a very entertaining and close game that was played in a superb spirit by all the players.
Both teams
played extremely well and worked hard all over the pitch but one player for the
Rustics was quite outstanding - the Man of the Match was the midfield
mastermind Ed Clark.
