Happy New Year!
Although we have had games cancelled due to weather we have managed to complete fixtures and continue our winning streak.
Having completed convincing wins starting away at Roseland’s where despite going a goal down we fought back to win 5-1, Tom Scott-Stewart (2) Jamie Brooker, Tom Nelson and Jordan Veness all scored, although the goal scorers seem to get the mention in the Rustic both Sam Fitzgerald and Jordan Humm both had a good games keeping things tight at the back, Jordan King was outstanding in the midfield and also Jack Franklin played a good game.
Having not played for two weeks we had a rare home game at Jockey Farm and again played a good game against Sevenoaks Town, Tom Scott-Stewart again scored twice, Bailey Sykes added a third goal in a flawless performance, Keith Paige linked well with Bradley Norman on the left side and both went close on a couple of occasions. Adam Howland controlled the midfield and made a few defence splitting passes, a four nil victory secured with a rare but well taken free kick from Sam Fitzgerald!
Whilst the under 12A side played their semi-final, congratulations on reaching the final! We played a tough Hailsham side, having again gone a goal down we fought hard and played some good football to take a 4-1 lead at half time, Tom Nelson securing a hatrick and Bradley Norman giving us the lead. Despite a Hatrick and a good performance I could understand why Tom Nelson was not too happy at being subbed at half time!
Starting the second half we faced a fired up Hailsham front line and Alex Smith made a number of outstanding saves before Hailsham fought back to 4-2, this seemed to wake us up and with Adam Howland and Jamie Brooker adding goals we again let Hailsham back into the game with them scoring a third. Having sat the second half on the bench we took the decision to replace a tired Tom Scott-Stewart with Tom Nelson who again scored taking his tally to four for the day, he then spent ten minutes trying to convince me that he would have had six if I hadn’t subbed him!
On the day a great team performance and a convincing 7-3 victory.
May I take this opportunity to thank Tracy McBride, Mandy Brooker and Moria Scott-Stewart for covering the bar over the past couple of weeks?
Having started the year well it is a big disappointment losing Jordan King possibly for six weeks due to an ankle injury, on behalf of the squad I hope we will see him playing again soon.
